How many Schnauzer aficionados know that this unusual and very special colour has been around for over 100 years? In the German postcards displayed you can clearly see their appeal!

'The dogs of the area' around Munich, both Miniature and Giants were developed in the late 19th and early 20th. Centuries. At this time all colours were recognised, from solid colours to salt /pepper to brindles. This is clearly illustrated in the first Pinscher Schnauzer Stud book where the earliest recorded registrations, in 1914 were 'yellow' which was the fore-runner to white as we know it today. The acceptance of all colours continued up until the late 30s, when the PSK, the governing body for all Schnauzers and Pinschers ruled that only Pepper and salt or solid black would be accepted for registration. Fortunately, some breeders of both Bl./silvers and Whites continued with the breeding of these colours, and the colour genes were preserved. This regime continued until the 1960s for Black/silvers and the 1980s for whites with their first International appearance at the World Show in Dortmund in 1991, without the award of International 'CACIBs'.

I was fortunate to see these small and appealing little dogs that historic day, and my fascination began. My patience was finally rewarded in 2007 when I was privileged to judge once more at a PSK show in Germany in the North. To my complete amazement the White minis exhibited that week-end stole the show on both days, under my self together with Russian and Polish judges. I felt as if I was in this cloud of make believe, these dogs were so much to my taste. At last I had found 'whites' that I really had a connection with , they just had it all. Fortunately, and by chance their breeder was our host and I had the opportunity to see more over the week-end. I was hooked!

So, in 2008, on the way to the World Show in Sweden, we drove via Leipzig , to choose my first ' white' babies, and what little charmers they were. I then had to drive away to await their completion of Health regulations for the UK. So I have missed seeing them grow up, but, not for the first time, I have exercised patience.

I feel not only lucky, but honoured to be entrusted with these so very special people, Rendezvous vom Hella-Hof at Nenevale and Romance vom Hella-Hof at Nenevale.
